Trail of Civilization 2009 at Mendut and Borobudur Temple (Part 2)
The ceremony was opened by Indonesia dance “Tari Payung”, then the next shows ordered as below :
- Cambodia – The Symptom Distracted of Sidharta’s Mind
- Lao PDR – Way of Peace
- Myanmar – The Two Glass-ball Sellers
- Thailand – The Jealousy of Siva
- Vietnam – The Spirit of Gongs
- Indonesia – Segenggam Biji Lada (Khissa Gotami)
Each show was presented and choreographed so beautifully. The audiovisual, stage, costumes, and actresses, were all perfect. It was 9 pm when the show was over. Next procession was to surround Borobudur Temple, which could be attended by everyone who wanted to join. Monks headed the procession. Borobudur Temple, with the light and particularly the atmosphere, was so gorgeous that night. It was a once-a-year celebration. And this was the third time of Vesakh being held internationally and attended by President.
Indonesia as host country is so proud that Vesakh could be celebrated together. But the main essence is always on the meaning of Vesakh. It is to remind us of reflecting and handling the three conditions and eight difficulties. The three conditions are Annica, Dukkha, and Anatta. While the eight difficulties are birth, old age, being sick, death, unachieved desire, meet with people we don’t like, separation with those we love, and attachment to physical and mental needs.
