Advertisement on TV : Man vs. Boy

Lately we see advertisement on TV that tags “Wanted : A Man”. Then the models, either women or men, describe how a man should be and how men are different from boys. I don’t know yet what product’s ads that is, but it’s a cool reminder for boys and for girls who don’t realize that they’re wasting time with boys. From the ads, I guess it’s for a kind of reality show that looks for a real gentleman. Would be ridiculous if it’s for a body shape product, for it is contradictive to the characteristic of men it stressed on the ads. I hope it’s commercializing a qualified product, or better off, a TV Show.

You know? This ad is interesting to me. What are differences between a man and a boy? Boys might never care for this, because they just don’t realize how childish they are. Men might never come to the topic as well, because they just don’t realize how charming they are. That’s from my simple point of view. The ad itself makes some point about a man :

  1. A man is someone who has objective in life and knows the direction he’s heading. While boys are just thinking for the next minute. If you build a real relationship, it must be with a man.
  2. A man is reliable, either in words and actions. He means his words, and so, trust-worthy. While words are just meaningless easy outgoing talk for boys. Boys say words to get what they want at the time, never for a long term importance.
  3. A man uses mind and logic to manage for realistic things. When boys are still dealing with six-packed body, which style to follow, or how to have fun with their parents’ money, men already set their vision and move toward that.
  4. A man has three characters : mature, well-managed, and attractive. Boys might have that too, but hardly three of them at once. You know, bad boys are attractive and challenging, but not for a stable relationship. Boys can put on cool and neat shirts, but what they talk about and how they solve problems will reveal their true identity. They might also look well-managed outside, just before you look carefully and find that they haven’t gained any accomplishment in life while they’re exaggerating.
